Microsoft Flow Is Out of Beta, Ready to Challenge IFTTT's Automation
Looking at the above news, I thought of
giving it a try. I have earlier used Zapier and IFTTT. So, wanted to check the
usability of the app. Working on Sitecore events for quite some time now, I
believe this product will be great to integrate
Below is what I was able to do in 5 minutes
using Microsoft Flow.
For this example, I wanted to create a Google
Drive file whenever there is a new tweet.
Being Sitecore fan, wanted to bring Sitecore
somehow into the game. So created a very simple flow.
Had to wait few minutes before the action
took place. I have registered for a free plan.
Below information is captured when a tweet is
posted for #Sitecore hashtag.
And this is what got pushed into the Google
drive file.
As you can see below, every tweet is creating
a new file.
And this is what is available in the file
contents.
iPaaS solutions are very powerful. Think of
the above flow with traditional integration. Need to know both the APIs, handle
Authentication and Authorization, Handle exceptions etc. However, we are able
to achieve simple integration between SaaS based applications without knowing
API or SDK and in less than 5 minutes.
Sitecore solutions being deployed to cloud
and Sitecore SaaS offerings will open possibilities of using Microsoft Flow in
new ways. With community contributions the systems that can integrate with each
other will grow rapidly. Now, an interesting use case would be to use existing
recipes from other iPaaS platforms in Flow (like IFTTT, Zapier)
